Lucy began her career as a TV and print journalist in Australia. After returning to the UK Lucy worked as a publishing editor, literary agent, and then Director of Development for Lifetime International Productions, an independent TV and video production company. She has developed and written numerous television programme and series concepts, including Desmond Morris’ Babywatching, the Y-Plan video exercise series, for which she also wrote the book, and the Lovers Guide series. Lucy developed an expertise in Work-Life Balance after researching and writing about parenting and children’s issues for organisations such as the NSPCC, National Parenting Forum and Working Families.
Lucy is the author of self-help book “The Book of Balanced Living” (Spiro Press 2002) and her first novel, “Blood and Water”, was published by Macmillan in 2006. She is one of the UK’s top experts in work-life balance and has written for the corporate market in this area, including the Industrial Society’s Work Life Manual and Get the Balance Right, a video-based training package. Lucy has worked with numerous individuals and organisations on work-life balance; her clients have included blue chip corporations, government departments, local authorities, NHS Trusts and small businesses. Lucy has advised the DfEE and the DTI on work-life balance policies and is a judge for the annual Employer of the Year and Best Boss Awards, as well as guest judge for Sunpenny's writing competitions.

Lucy does voluntary work in intercountry adoption and for a sheltered accommodation charity. She has two adult sons and lives in Norfolk with her two young daughters – both adopted from Russia.
Lucy is a media-friendly author; she has given numerous talks, radio and tv interviews and been featured in magazine and newspaper articles here and in Australia. She is available for talks, book signings, interviews, workshops sand public appearances.
