JUDGING OF OUR COMPETITIONS: 2011/12
We have a panel of several guest judges for our writing competitions, and each competition is judged by at least 4 people. Below are some of the judges on our panel:
Sunpenny Judge: Jo Holloway
Jo Holloway has been involved in writing professionally and in production for television, radio, film, multimedia and print for over 25 years, and has been involved in developing the careers of many new writers. With years of corporate and magazine writing and editing behind her, she had her first novel published in the USA in 2005. She started Sunpenny Publishing as an opportunity to help other writers achieve their dreams, and in order to have more control over her own writing works. She regained the rights
for her novel and re-released it as Dance of Eagles to launch Sunpenny Publishing.
Guest Judge: Dee Tavener-Craig
Dee is a multiple-award-winning script writer, producer and directorp; most recently her work won an award from the UN. As well as being a journalist and teacher, she has worked on a wide variety of projects in television and radio, from children's programming to drama and documentaries. Leaving Britain soon after she married, her life has taken her to many remote parts of the world, eventually settling in South Africa, where she was a highly respected writer for well over 20 years. She ran her own production company for ten years before moving to Spain with her husband, Rod.
Guest Judge: Lucy McCarraher
Lucy is the author of Blood and Water, Kindred Spirits, Mr. Mikey's Ladies, and The Book of Balanced Living. She has been involved in the writing and production of television programs for many years. She is also an acknowledged work-life balance expert and has written a book on the subject, as well as having a novel recently published by MacMillan,
with another up for consideration. See her web site here.
Guest Judge: Melody Amundson
Melody has been involved in creative works for many years, and although she only became entangled professionally in the world of books a couple of years ago, she has always loved reading and language. Melody thrives on stories of intrigue and adventure, alongside her Christian literature.
Guest Judge: Andrew Holloway
Andrew first because involved in printing, typesetting and proofreading on his school printing press many, many years ago. Since then he has had technical articles published and has written several technical manuals. His great love is biography and other non-fiction, and crime books.
Guest Judge: Gary Amundson
Gary has been an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction all his life, and especially loves historic works. Gary is our "control" - he is not involved in the book or creative trade, but is an excellent judge of what's good (or otherwise) from a "lay" reader's perspective.
